Associated General Contractors (AGC) of Kansas is recognized as the "Chamber of Commerce for the Kansas Construction Industry" and represents 300 open shop and union shop construction firms and their 20,000 professional employees. AGC of Kansas is the largest sponsor of the National Center for Construction & Education Research (NCCER) – www.nccer.org construction craft training materials and provide NCCER support to Kansas high-schools, community colleges and vocational centers. AGC of Kansas also sponsors the largest CTE/Vocational outreach program in the State of Kansas – "Build Up Kansas" – www.buildupks.com. Build Up Kansas is a joint venture program between the Governor/Lt. Governor, the Kansas Legislature and the Construction Industry and its mission is to enhance CTE/Vocational programs in ALL Kansas high-schools. This mission will provide valuable professional careers to young women/men and energize the pipeline of skilled workers to not only support the needs of the construction industry (55,000 NEW construction workers needed) but also support Kansas’ economic development efforts.
